Up Close and Personal

This is a frame from a 64-frame video captured a few days ago of an asteroid as it passed by Earth. Near-Earth asteroids are actually fairly common, and there really isn't a danger of them hitting us. In fact, there is an American company called Planetary Resources that is planning on mining near-Earth asteroids for valuable minerals (an idea which I support actually).
