Carcano M91/28 Grenade Launcher Carbine and Carcano M91/24 Carbine

This is a 1930s Italian experimental grenade launching rifle. The grenade launcher, fitted on the right side of the gun, is basically a second receiver that uses blanks to fire grenades. To operate it, the user takes the bolt out of the rifle and puts it in the launcher, loads in a blank round and grenade, and pulls the trigger of the rifle (which is linked to the grenade launcher). Unfortunately, the experiment never caught on, and was only made in very small numbers. This rifle is actually for sale for about $3000.

The front end. Notice the screws securing the launcher to the rifle.

The bolt in the grenade launcher, cocked and ready to fire.

Bolt in the rifle with a good shot of the launcher and the securing screw over the front of the receiver behind the rear sight.

The rear sight and securing screw. There appears to be a modified grenade sight on the left side of the leaf.

The workings of the grenade launcher, almost identical on the inside to that of the rifle. Notice the trigger linkage on the left.

A good shot of the trigger linkage going up to the rifle.

An interesting little carbine. Originally made in 1917 as a long rifle and then cut down in the 1920s to carbine length to be a TS (Truppe Speciali) carbine. It's only $300, so a very good price for a unique rifle. The whole front end of the rifle is pretty unique. The top hand guard is neither that of the infantry rifle or a regular TS carbine.

Here you can see the modification to the rear sight. The sight leaf has been modified so the adjustable notch is farther forward a bit.

A new sling attachment has been cut into the side of the stock for the carbine length sling. However it still retains the old attachment on the bottom of the stock.

You can see the new sling attachment as well as the sights and the very short barrel. The front barrel band also has a left side as well as a bottom sling attachment.

A close up of the rear sight. I'm not sure why it was modified this way.
