Star Fields

One August evening, photographer Tunç Tezel trekked to Uludag National Park near his hometown of Bursa, Turkey. He intended to watch the moon and evening planets, then take in the Perseids meteor shower.

He came away with this image of the Milky Way's vast star fields hanging over a valley of human-made light.

"We live in a spiral arm of the Milky Way, so when we gaze through the thickness of our galaxy, we see it as a band of dense star fields encircling the sky," said Kukula, the Royal Observatory's public astronomer.

"The galaxy's central region contains a vast bulge of ancient stars, so when we look in this direction, the Milky Way band appears to swell and thicken."

I'm unsure of where and when this was taken, but I'm pretty sure that's a B-26 in the air and the soldier is holding an FN-D (an FN made improvement on the Browning BAR).

Meaning out of Machinery

You know, I've figured something out recently because I've been driving my car so much and working on it some. Some vehicles really do have a "personality" even if it is only our perception of one. Not every car is like this though. The closest thing I can equate it to is a horse. Even though you can't communicate verbally, you learn to communicate through other channels. I've spent a bit over 14,000 miles in my car, and I can tell when something could be wrong (or right again) because of the sounds and vibrations it makes. I love my car even if it is old, slow, and has old paint. This may sound a bit materialistic, but that car means a lot to me.
